Does it matter that it went unheard?
Does it matter that it went unheard?
Does every gesture require a witness to exist?
Perhaps what remains unheard is not lost, but displaced; circulating outside the immediate moment of recognition and comprehension. We often mistake silence or the ‘invisible’ for absence, as though meaning only emerges when it is acknowledged; as we are the judge of existence; what we are able to grasp is what is graspable. Yet some actions, some thoughts, some beings, continue their work unnoticed, lingering beneath conversations, is without the need of recognition, resurfacing in other voices, other contexts, other futures; shapes slowly and deeply.
In what ways are we able to comprehend our limitations and to give thanks to that which moves outside of it?
May we learn to listen, not with the goal of hearing the unheard, but to sense its presence in our ignorance.
