‘Sitting and Listening – an on-going performance’

Dimensions variable.

Instructions:

1. Prepare a sign saying: ‘Sitting and Listening’

 

2. Place yourself in a sitting position a public place with the sign accessible to read by the audience.

 

3. The piece start by the performer sitting down and end with the performer not sitting down any more.

 

4. For each piece, note place, date and duration of the piece. Photograph where the sitting took place (preferable without the performer in the photograph). You can also choose to add a documentation n0te.

Performance I (test)

Place: In the living room at The House  on the Hill, Arts Letters and Numbers, New York.

Date: the 19th of March 2023

Duration: 1:25 hour (21:15-22.40)

Documentation note: This can be considered test I. There were no audience, and it’s debatable to what degree it was a public place.

Performance II

Place: The Studios, central hall, at Arts Letters and Numbers.

Date: 21st of March 2023

Time: 25 minutes (11:07 am – 11:32 am)

Documentation note: The sun shinning through the window warmed slowly and caring my back. I was all lone, but found the performance very valuable to myself – as an act of self-care. A moment with peace and attention. Was throughout the performance hoping someone at Arts Letters and Number might be visiting the studios.
